SJSALLINGER

About SJS

Scott Sallinger is more than just your ordinary custom furniture craftsman. He's a full-fledged artist.

Scott Sallinger showed his passion for design early in life. His fascination with Legos was the first indicator of his future career and by age 20, Scott began learning the fundamentals of design by remodeling homes in the Los Angeles and Monrovia area, where he resided prior to 2005. He went on to attend the Art Center in Pasadena and started his first company, Sunny Boy Designs.

At Sunny Boy Designs, and under the tutelage of several mentors, Scott continued learning and perfecting his woodworking craft, developing his work further, designing custom furniture pieces that could be viewed as works of art.

"I wanted to create something that was functional but unique – to create something that had depth, proportion, and different materials," Scott said.

In addition to focusing on hand crafting for private clients and working on his historical home remodeling projects, Scott did not neglect his penchant for music. With his band, 54 East, Scott played keyboard in several Sunset Boulevard nightclubs.

As his reputation for architectural woodworking grew, his custom designed furniture and cabinet business also grew, leading to the opening of his first store.

SJ Sallinger designs showcased Scott's growing portfolio of over 250 custom designs, including various furniture design types: architectural built-ins, corner cabinets, bookshelves, custom furniture, and a variety of other unique and artistic designs.

As Scott's reputation as a professional designer and artisan grew, he began to promote art awareness in his community, leading as vice president of MAFA (Monrovia Arts Festival Association), and working hand in hand with the Monrovia Art Walk, and after-school art programs.

In 2005 Scott moved his business to San Francisco and finalized the product development of Cornerture®, his new retail line of corner furniture, designed specifically to maximize the use of corner spaces in the home.

Presently, Scott continues designing and building custom furniture, architectural built-ins, corner cabinets, bookshelves, and a variety of other artistic, one of a kind, handcrafted designs in the San Francisco Bay Area. With ever-growing passion, Scott continues to bring the artist out in all of the people he works with.
