Scott Sallinger the Renaissance Man

Functional and decorative wood crafting, environmental and architectural design, interior design…to Scott Sallinger art is "hands-on."

Sallinger is one of those "naturals." The type who as a kid not only had a toy chest, but built the toy chest, and experimented with making toys go into it!

Now all grown up, he still has the artist's touch when it comes to fine custom cabinetry, eclectic furniture and room furnishings, deft antiquing and aging, restoration, and sculptural wood-working, through his Sunny Boy design historical home remodeling company.

For over 18 years, Scott has continued to innovate. His "artist's eye approach" to space design and historical remodeling through the use of wood, steel, fabric, glass and concrete creates stunning functional pieces of art.

His crafting of furniture-as-art-form through one of a kind pieces ranges from simple shapes and organic rhythms to custom and historical cabinetry expressed as entertainment centers, armoires, tables and stands; to full kitchen restorations, fireplace mantles and dramatic staircases.

The boundless vision and superb sense of design are "just what I do…" according to the soft-spoken artist who also is vice-president and a founding member of MAFA, the Monrovia Arts Festival Association. "It comes down to creating environments architecturally," he says. "I'm currently working on a space design that incorporates a loft, art studio and living area for a client."

When you first meet Sallinger, you are taken with his youthful zest and his sense of wonder. "I have ideas and images constantly going through my head," he says, "I keep my mind clear and open so the inspiration just comes as I create. And I never create the same piece twice."
